Obituary of Celia De Los Santos
Celia De Los Santos, age 91, of Adrian, died Friday, February 23, 2018, at ProMedica Charlotte Stephenson Manor, Adrian, surrounded by her family. She was born February 24, 1926, in Linares, Mexico to Benigno and Elodia Gonzalez (Garza) Hernandez. On May 8, 1950, she married Juan Antonio De Los Santos Sr. and he preceded her in death on November 4, 2010. Celia had been employed by Fisher Body in Tecumseh. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Cursillo. Celia enjoyed crafts, crocheting, gardening, and cross stitch. She also donated her time helping and translating for migrant workers that were working in the area.
Celia is survived by her children, Edna De Los Santos, Julian (Barbara) De Los Santos of Adrian, Aida (Patrick) De Los Santos-Clarke of Adrian, Juan Antonio (Rebecca) De Los Santos Jr. of Tipton, Celeste (James) Bentley of Adrian and Noel De Los Santos of Adrian; a sister, Hortencia (Hilario) Gutierrez; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Juan, she was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and a daughter, Petra De Los Santos.
Words cannot express our appreciation for the care and compassion that was brought to our mother’s last days by Hospice. Thank you to the dementia staff at Charlotte Stephenson Manor for giving our mother the loving care and environment for a peaceful passing. At Celia’s request, cremation has taken place. The Memorial Liturgy will be offered Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 4 pm to 6 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian where there will be a Vigil Prayer Service held at 6 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
