OBIT HEADLINE: Raymond G. Potts
ADRIAN – Raymond G. Potts, age 87, of Adrian, passed away on January 21, 2018, at his home. He was born on April 25, 1930 to Raymond C. Potts and Bessie Dowling. Raymond married Bernadine Ehinger on July 14, 1951. He was an employee of Consumers Power for 45 years working as an entry level laborer to a lineman, then retiring as regional substation supervisor. He was a member of our armed forces serving in the Marine Corps as a Sergeant. Raymond was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister and usher. He was a charter member of the Madison Volunteer Fire Department and Adrian Dad’s and Fans Club. He was also a member of the Woodlawn Golf Club, Knights of Columbus, VFW and the American Legion. Raymond was a season ticket holder for Adrian Maples football since 1971. He served as board president for Adrian Public Schools and Catholic Central. He loved all sports, especially golf and football. He was his children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s biggest fan in academics and sports. Although he was once a Michigan fan, he will always bleed green and white.
In addition to his wife, Bernadine, he is survived by one son, Terance (Beth) Potts, Adrian; three daughters, Raedine Freeman Davis, Adrian, Charlene (Bruce) Anderson, Adrian, Lorri Rodriguez of Adrian; eight grandchildren, Josh ( Carrie) Freeman, Derek (Dani) Anderson, Kellen (Jillian) Davis, Angie (Anthony) Vargas, Alina (Christopher) DeRossett, Nicholas Hutchinson, Zach Anderson, and Cameron Morton; twelve great-grandchildren, Shyanne Anderson, Landon DeRossett, Hailey Vargas, Anthony Vargas Jr., Caydence Anderson, Andre Vargas, Logan Anderson, Wyatt Freeman, Hope Davis, Nakota Anderson, Dash Davis, and Zeke Anderson. Raymond was proceeded in death by his parents, Raymond Potts and Bessie Potts Greene and three sisters, Norma James, Mary Robertson, Irene McKinney.
Visitation for Raymond will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with Vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian. A Visitation will be held, Thursday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Tom Murphy as celebrant. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #97 and V.F.W Post #1584 Annis-Fint. A Private Burial will be at Ehinger Family Cemetery.
