Obituary of Brandy Bishop

Brandy Jo Bishop, age 43, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  She was born on January 25, 1974 in Adrian, Michigan. 

 

Brandy served her country proudly with the United States Army from 2008 – 2011.  Upon being honorably discharged, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Baker College and was currently 2 credit hours shy from earning her Master’s Degree in business from Siena Heights University.  On October 19, 2015, Brandy married Paul Bishop in Toledo, Ohio. He survives.  Brandy was a member of the Hudson American Legion Post 180 and also the Legion Riders Association.  She enjoyed riding motorcycles, was a huge collector of Mickey Mouse memorabilia and an advocate for veterans rights.  Brandy had a dream of opening a bakery locally that catered to people with diabetes.

 

In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by her parents, Rusty and Pam Benschoter of Adrian; 2 children, Leighton (Dalene) Bishop of Hudson, and Dana (Anthony) Bishop of Addison; one brother, Troy (Heather) Harris of Adrian; half-sister, Megan Harris of Onsted; 4 step-siblings, Kori (Ronnie) Chrisman of Cement City, Erica Hayes of Onsted, Nick (Marla) Benschoter and Adam (Kristi) Benschoter, both of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren, her grandmother, Bobbie Jo Harris of Onsted; mother and father-in-law, Charles and Millie Bishop of Lincoln Park, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cecil and Leora Corbin, Leonard Harris and a half-brother, Leonard Harris.

 

Funeral services for Brandy will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hudson American Legion Post 180.  Cremation will follow.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
