Obituary of Ruth Gilson
Ruth E. Gilson, age 92 of Deerfield, MI. died peacefully on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Blissfield Place surrounded in love by her family. She was born April 25, 1925 in Petersburg, MI. to Glenn and Mary “Matie” (Reed) Goodrich. On March 18, 1946 she married James E Gilson and he preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1987.
Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Deerfield. Ruth began her career at the Britton Elevator, then as a bookkeeper for Revco and Deerfield State Bank, she retired in 1985 as a nurse’s aide from Ypsilanti State Hospital. In retirement, Ruth worked as a volunteer at Bixby Hospital in Adrian. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, golf, adventures with her friends and most of all time spent with her family. Ruth was a stellar lady, with the biggest heart ever, truly one of a kind. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ruth is survived by four sons, Daniel (Mary) Gilson of Deerfield, Thomas (Pam) Gilson from Deerfield, Mike (Marcia) Gilson of Deerfield, Paul (Merrie) Gilson of Toledo, OH; two daughters, Connie (John) Seiser of Manitou Beach, MI, and Carol (Mike) Gilson-Tiede of Deerfield, MI; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James, two brothers, James and Russel Goodrich, one sister, Marjorie Nagy and a daughter-in-law Diane Gilson.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield with Rev. Gary Leking officiating. Burial will follow at the Deerfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and also on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
