Michael Elliott, age 70, of Adrian, died October 25, 2017, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. He was born July 3, 1947, to Lloyd William Elliott and Elaine Loretta (Lyons) Elliott. On June 27, 1969, Mike married Dawn Daniels at the Jasper EUB Church.
Mike was a 1965 graduate of Sand Creek High School. He worked for over 40 years as a mechanic and was well known for his expertise as a diesel mechanic. Employments consisted of
Don Scholl, Inc., Tecumseh Equipment, Owner of Sand Creek Garage, Michigan Department of Corrections-Camp Control, and lastly retiring as supervisor from Jackson State Prison Garage. Mike served from 1968-1974 with the Army National Guards. He enjoyed owning, training and racing standard bred horses, was a member of the United States Trotting Association, and was lovingly known as Grandpa Horses by his grandchildren. He faithfully attended Crossroads Community Church and became a lover of Christ.
Surviving Mike, in addition to his wife, Dawn, is a son, Lance (Angela) Elliott of Adrian, and a daughter, Kristi (Jason) Vander Woude of Grand Rapids, MI, three brothers, William (Lynn) Elliott of Manchester, Terry (Debbie) Elliott of Sand Creek, and Gregory (Cheryl) Elliott of Adrian and a sister, Denise King of Adrian. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Gavin and Grace Elliott, Gabriel, Jonas and Eden Vander Woude, and two step grandchildren, Jocelynn and Rachel Dunn. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Timothy.
Funeral services for Mike will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Scott Winstead officiating. Burial will be in West Madison Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 31st from 2:00 – 8:00 pm. at Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
