ADRIAN – Madeline Julia Poling, age 91, of Adrian, died Sunday, October 22, 2017, at her home with family by her side.
She was born September 7, 1926, in Detroit, to Albert and Emilie (Lycke) Moons. Madeline had been employed by Blissfield Junior High as a custodian, Woolworth’s for 14 years, then by the Adrian Mall Food Court, and was a greeter at Meijer and Walmart. She was a member of St. Mary of Good Counsel Church.
Madeline is survived by a son, Donald (Jeannie) Poling of Adrian; a daughter, Donna Houttekier of Adrian; a step-brother, Armand Goddyn of Blissfield; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henri and Emilie Goddyn, two step-sisters, Julia Gust and Adeline Belprez, son-in-law, Kenneth Houttekier, and a daughter-in-law, Ruby Poling.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s of Good Counsel Church with Fr. Tom Murphy presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian where a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 10-10:45 a.m. at St. Mary’s of Good Counsel Church.
