ADRIAN- Doris Lorraine (Elka) Maleski, age 95, of Adrian, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Lenawee Medical Care Facility.
She was born on May 20, 1921, to Albert and Ida (Schrock) Elka in Willis, MI. She was a graduate of the Class of 1940 at Lincoln Consolidated High School in Ypsilanti, MI. In early years, Doris worked at the Ypsilanti Willow Run Bomber Plant during WWII. She married Harry Maleski on April 3, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 6, 1985. After getting married and having children, Doris stayed home to raise her children and enjoyed baking and making desserts for her family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maybee, MI. One of Doris’ proudest moments was on her 80th birthday she was able to walk the Mackinaw Bridge with her daughter, Deanna and former son-in-law, Kenneth L. Biggle.
Doris is survived by her two children, Harry V. Maleski of Willis and Deanna (Scott) Remily of Adrian and former son-in-law, Kenneth L. Biggle of Adrian. In addition to her husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Bryan Lee Maleski; five siblings, Eleanor Minick, Evelyn Vedder, Violet Koss, Carl Elka, and Edward Elka.
A memorial service for Doris will be on Thursday, April 6, 2017, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 7771 High Street, Maybee, MI 48159.
