Emma F. Zatko, age 78 of Temperance passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2017 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born in Kentucky on August 8, 1939 to Irville and Mae (Kelley) Knox. On June 15, 1957 she was married to William C. Zatko in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2013. Emma worked for Monroe Bank & Trust in Ida as a bank teller and worked her way up to a bank manager and then she was made a bank officer, before retiring. She was a faithful member of the Adrian Church of Christ and later the Flanders Road Church of Christ. Emma love entertaining family and friends, sharing her cooking and baking abilities to those she loved. When she wasn’t busy entertaining, Emma found joy in gardening.
Emma is survived by her children, William Zatko of Ida, James Zatko of Petersburg and Faye (Thomas) Hilkens of Temperance; three brothers, Marvin (Tara) Knox of CA, Carl (Van) Knox of FL and Gary (Kathy) Knox of KY; four sisters, Carol (Tom) Moon of FL, Arlie (Ed) Reardon of OH, Jeanette Wilson of OH and Glenda Flippin of OH; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, “Junior” Irville Knox and one sister, Lotefa Peters.
Funeral services for Emma will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian with Pastor Bruce Strickland officiating. Burial will be private in Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted. Visitation will also take place on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
