ADRIAN- Darlene Grace (Oles) Frownfelter, age 90, of Canton, MI, and formerly of Blissfield, passed away on July 31, 2017, at Angela Hospice Care Center in Livonia. She was born February 17, 1927, in Quincy, MI to George and Ethel (Iles) Oles and was the youngest of six children. Darlene spent most of her life in the Lenawee County (Hudson and Blissfield) area, moving to Canton, MI in 2014.
A 1945 graduate of Hudson High School, Darlene married Richard Frownfelter of Hudson on May 15, 1948. During WWII she worked at Faraday in Adrian before becoming a wife and mother. She was a former member of Blissfield Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling for over 10 years on various teams. Among her many hobbies were sewing (making and selling doll clothes), crocheting, cooking, art, flowers, gardening, writing short stories, poetry, reading, computers and interior decorating. Darlene was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed shopping at Kohl’s until age 90. Her collections included cracked glass and angel figurines. Darlene loved attending family reunions. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was a very strong woman who worked very hard, proudly mowing her lawn and shoveling snow until well into her 80s.
Darlene is survived by her two sons, Gary Frownfelter of Grand Blanc and Richard (Ruth) Frownfelter of Canton; two grandchildren, David Frownfelter of Canton, and Andrea (Michael) Arbit of Rochester Hills, ten nephews, nine nieces and numerous grand nephews and grand nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, one sister and three nephews.
Funeral services for Darlene will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at noon at Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home in Blissfield with Pastor Tom Frantz officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield.
